For designers Creating objects
Illustrated objects can be used as stand alone items to represent topics or grouped together to make up a larger composition. We use photos of real objects as reference points, removing unnecessary detail and focusing on the larger shapes.
- Start with building objects with large, simple shapes. Avoid using lines and strokes.
- Where possible, round corners to suit the soft, friendly style of our library.
- Use colour tones and layering shapes to create the illusion of depth within illustrations and avoid creating 3D objects with perspective and detailed shading.
- When creating objects for characters to interact with, we may need to add some 3D elements but avoid doing this where it’s not needed or when creating standalone objects.
