To help users enter a valid access code, you should:
- allow them to paste the code
- check they have entered something in the code field
- check that what they have entered is valid
- show an error message if they have not entered anything or what they have entered is not valid
Error messages
Use the correct errors pattern and show the error details above the access code field.
If the access code is missing
Use “Enter an access code”.
If the access code is too long or too short
Use “Enter a 16-character access code”.
If the access code is the correct length but is not a real code
Use “Access code not recognised. Enter the code again.”
